Apriaca
Apriaca, from Carinthia/Austria, was founded by Johannes Jakober, Dominik Sauper, Anton Pichler and Manuel Manges in the year 2005. At that time Apriaca was just another a band project that performed metal and rock songs using acoustic guitars. But in the spring of 2006, the band heard about a national band contest, and along the lines of "nothing left to lose", the band took part in it. They grabbed their electric guitars and wrote some songs using material from Dom's and Jak's former bands. Three months later, and somewhat astonished, they found themselves in the final round of that band contest getting a lot of positive feedback. During that summer they continued to write new songs for their first studio album which was scheduled to be recorded in autumn 2006. Finally, in September 2006, the boys entered the studio and, under the working title "Four Maniacs - One Passion", they recorded their first album entitled "The Philosophers Legacy". Meanwhile, in the summer of 2007, Patrick Steiner joined Apriaca as their new bassist. Anton Pichler, unfortunately, had to leave the band due to private reasons. After the release of "The Philosophers Legacy" in January of 2007, the band received very good reviews from a variety of magazines. Audiences also were inspired by their music, a mix of 80's heavy metal, rock and punk. In the summer of 2007, Apriaca signed a record deal with Stonehenge Records which made "The Philosophers Legacy" available on many online download stores such as iTunes and Musicload. Their music could also be found in stores such as Mediamarkt, Saturn, Amazon and Lion. Until now the boys played about 50 gigs nationwide where they have made a lot of new friends and fans. Right now Apriaca is busy working on new material which is scheduled to be released in early 2010.
