nterview with Dimitry Shkurin of Illidiance
Hailing from Russia Illidiance are comprised of :

Shkurin Dmitry (Xyrohn) : Lead Guitar / Lead Vocals.
Shkurin Artem (Syrex): Bass / Clean and Vocals.
Serge Alekseev (Integro): Guitar.
Mike Sockor (Sockor): Drums.

Since their formation in 2005 Illidiance have set Russia and Eastern Europe alight with their own brand of "Cyber Metal" which has seen their first two albums sell over five thousand copies and two appearances at Brutal Assault, one of Europe's best known Open Air Festivals. Currently in the early stages of an Eastern European tour which will take them through Russia, the Czech Republic, the Slovak Republic and Poland Illidiance are clearly a band on the rise.

(Q)Who are Illidiance and how did the name originate?

(A)Illidiance initially had a Black Metal style before we progressed onto a more original sound. The name came from imaginary words which we formed together to something that sounded amazing.

(Q)One of the first things I noticed about the Illidiance was the costumes, what can you tell us about these and where the designs come from?

(A)All our costumes are designed by the bass player of Illidiance, the inspiration for which comes from Science Fiction, Sci-Fi films & books and futuristic concepts.

(Q)I know you've probably been asked this question before but for those of us who don't know what is Cyber-Metal?

(A)We consider it to be a more industrial metal which is inclusive of rhythmic riffs, industrial parts and samples. We draw the sound from such diverse influences as Prodigy, Fear Factory and The Kovenant and shape it into an original style.

(Q)You've shared the stage with a number of international bands such as Rotting Christ, Grave Digger, Thy Disease, Shenight and Deathstars in the past, what would you say you've taken from the experience?

(A)One of my favourite bands to share stage with was Behemoth and from them and others like them we draw inspiration by seeing the things we need to work on and learn how to grow as a band. We hope that this will be evident in our Eastern European Tour.

(Q)One of the distinguishing characteristics of Illidiance seems to be the musical evolvement, an example of which is your change of direction from your original style of black metal. Do you think it is important to keep sounding musically fresh?

(A)I think perhaps not fresh but original with a sound comparable to other bands. We feel that with the industrial sound we are going in the right direction musically and gaining new fans along the way.

(Q)How would it make you feel if a new band emerged who were influenced by Illidiance?

(A)That would be great, it would make us feel that we are headed the right way.

(Q)You are currently working on your new album 'Damage Theory'. I know you probably don't want to give too much away but what can your fans expect?

(A)There will be eleven tracks on the album which contains songs from our EP Synthetic Breed as well as new material with guest appearances from artists from Japan and the UK, as well as members of Russia's leading alternative acts.
If anyone is interested you can follow the album's progress on the video diaries on our myspace. We hope the fans will not be disappointed.

(Q)In a previous interview you stated that the success you have achieved so far "does not equal the success you need". Would you like to elaborate on this and your hopes for future of Illidiance?

(A)We hope that the new album helps us to become more well known outside of Eastern Europe as well as gaining new fans and reaching out to new shores.

(Q)Thank you for your time, is there anything else you would like to say which hasn't already been covered?

(A)Thank you for the interview, thanks also go out to our street-teamers throughout the world such as Freyja Awbrey, Renata Drzymala whose support for Illidiance has been unbelievable. Finally, keep your eye out for future announcements throughout 2010 with regard to the forthcoming album etc.
